Spring Show 2026 Results: Champions Crowned

The SCOCSA Spring Show 2026 has come to a close, and what a spectacular display it was. Held over the weekend of 26–27 September at Marion Warradale Uniting Church Hall, this year's show brought together some of the finest orchids our members have grown — and the judging was no easy task.

Whether you were there in person or are catching up now, here's a full rundown of the champions and prize winners across all three divisions.

Grand Champion

The highest honour of the show went to Den. Oliver Jack 'Gerard', which also claimed Champion Open Division and Champion Australian Native. A stunning dendrobium that drew admiration from judges and visitors alike — a thoroughly deserved Grand Champion.

Open Division Results

The Open Division featured eight outstanding entries, with prizes awarded across a range of genera:

  • Grand Champion, Champion Open Division & Champion Australian Native — Den. Oliver Jack 'Gerard'
  • Champion Cymbidium 60–90mm — Cym. Khanebono 'Jacinta'
  • Champion Paphiopedilum — Paph. Chouvettii 'Van Dyke'
  • Champion Zygopetalinae — Zga. Dragon Kitten 'Purr'
  • Champion Oncidiinae — Onc. hintonii
  • Champion Cymbidium under 60mm — Cym. Brock St Felling Arex × Felling Fire
  • Champion Seedling — Den. Newbold Beauty × Issy's Pride
  • Noel Oliver Trophy — Den. Speciosum

The diversity of genera on show in the Open Division is always one of the highlights of our Spring Show — from native dendrobiums to exotic paphs and oncidiums, the standard this year was exceptional.

First Division Results

Four entries competed in the First Division, with prizes going to:

  • Champion First Division — Striolatum Aussie Gold × Goldrusch
  • Champion Laeliinae — Ctt. Adelaide Ablaze 'Sunburst'
  • Champion Phalaenopsis — Phal. Unknown
  • Novelty Cymbidium Trophy — Cym. Forrest Place 'Royale'

The First Division continues to showcase the depth of growing talent among our members, with some genuinely impressive blooms on the bench.

Second Division Results

The Second Division entry this year was a standout:

  • Champion Second Division & Champion Cymbidium over 90mm — Cym. Kimberly Splash 'Tee Pee'

A beautiful cymbidium that more than earned its double prize.

Congratulations to All Entrants

A huge congratulations to every member who entered this year's Spring Show. Growing orchids to show standard takes dedication, patience, and real skill — and every plant on the bench was a testament to that.

Thank you also to our judges, our show committee, and everyone who helped set up and run the event. The Spring Show is one of the highlights of the SCOCSA calendar, and it wouldn't happen without the effort of so many members.

We look forward to seeing you all at the next club meeting — and start thinking about what you'll enter next year!
